Last week I hoped on the train into London for a visit to the Barbican and a spot of shopping/exploring, as well as a much needed to catch up. The Barbican has been one of those places which I have been meaning to visit for too long, as I never really venture to that side of town for galleries. That being said it didn’t disappoint, the exhibition we saw was the “Strange and Familiar” which was curated by the famed photographer Martin Parr. It was basically a series of photographs documented by international photographers of the social/political change of the UK from the 1930s.
There was an array of images including some iconic ones of the 60s Rolling Stones concert at Hyde Park, as well as ones by Henri-Cartier Bresson.
We actually ended up on Brick Lane (naturally) checking out the American Apparel pop-up store where everything was £1-£20. Bargain city. I picked up some steals whilst there too, including a bodysuit for £6, bikini top £4 and a cute USA bow for £2, as it’s not everyday you come across an AA store under £20. If you ever around that area and a (huge) fan of AA then it’s their till the 23rd.
