Breakfast ideas
Let’s talk breakfast ideas. This is the meal that is known as the most important of the day but can also be the one meal we may be guilty of skipping. But I’ve been recently switching up my breakfasts and thought I’d share a few of favourite variations that I’ve been reaching for as of late. Especially now that I’m experimenting more in isolation.
The classic Porridge
Oh the classic bowl of porridge. Some prefer it plain but me I’m all about experimenting with toppings and spices. It was a complete game changer! A couple of my favourite combinations include:
Peanut butter & Blueberry. Mix a teaspoon of the peanut butter in whilst its’ cooking – it is heavenly and top with blueberries.
Peanut Butter, Cinnamon and Strawberry. Again mix a teaspoon of the peanut butter in whilst its’ cooking with two teaspoons cinnamon for a spicy yet salty touch, and top with strawberries.
Cinnamon and strawberry. Mix a generous tablespoon of cinnamon in with your oats whilst cooking, and top with a handful of strawberries and a drizzle of honey.
Add a fruity touch to Peanut Butter on toast
Controversial for some but I don’t know about you guys but I loveee to add fruit to my toast. Especially when it comes to peanut butter. There’s honestly something about the combination of salt and sweet which is divine with a cup of tea. Personal favourites include blueberry and strawberry…heaven!
Avocado on toast with a twist
I have to admit (controversially) I’m not a HUGE fan of the millennial fave – Avocado on toast. I personally just find it too plain. However, using a bunch of different toppings and (of course) spices, is the best way to eat this fave. I prefer to butter my toast first, then add the avo on top, top with sweet cherry tomatoes and then a heck load of seasoning. I even like to add a sprinkle of chilli powder for some heat. It’s deffo worth a try, if like me you constantly experimenting with new toppings!
